The Legend of Sleepy Hollow:

Written By Mary and Andrew Arnault. Adapted from the story by Washington Irving.

Presented by special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company, Woodstock,

Illinois. Directed by Jen Ketchum, Assistant Director Brittany Watne, Produced by

Jessica Sus

Early on a September morning the villagers of Sleepy Hollow await their new

schoolmaster. When Ichabod finally arrives, his priggish correctness casts a pall over

the gossipy, prank-playing townsfolk. Soon enough, though, his genteel manners and

his hymn singing impress the ladies, including Katrina Van Tassel, the town belle. The

menfolk are less thrilled, especially Brom Bones, Katrina's beau, and he begins plotting

to rid himself of his unwelcome rival. Matters come to a head during the Van Tassel's

Halloween party, after which the superstitious Ichabod is accosted on his lonely ride

home by a fiendish apparition, the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow. The next

morning Ichabod has disappeared, leaving behind only a song in the wind, and a new

legend is born.

Performances will be at the Sandwich Opera House October 11 th and 12 th at 7pm,

October 13 th at 2pm. Tickets are $15 each presale or at the door plus any taxes

and fees.

Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus:

Written By Andrew J. Fenady. Based upon the teleplay by Val DeCrow and Andrew J.

Fenady. Adapted from the story by Washington Irving. Presented by special

arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company, Woodstock, Illinois. Directed by

Kathie Hart, Assistant Director Emily Redmond.

Inspired by a simple, poignant letter written over 100 years ago by 8-year-old Virginia

O. Hanlon to the editor of the New York Sun—and by the timeless editorial response

printed on the front page of the Sun. Virginia wondered and wrote: "Dear Editor, I am 8

years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says if you see it

in the Sun, it's so. Please tell me the truth. Is there a Santa Claus?". Ed Mitchell,

the Sun's editor, gives the assignment of answering Virginia's letter to Frank Church

who, until his wife and baby died last Christmas Eve, was the Sun's best and most

dependable reporter. Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus is a play for young and old,

magically reaffirming life's highest beauty and joy—"the eternal light with which

childhood fills the world".

Performances will be at Sandwich Opera House December 13 th and 14 th at 7pm and

December 15 th at 2pm. Tickets are $15 each presale or at the box office plus any taxes

and fees.

Charlotte's Web:

Adapted by Joseph Robinette. Based on the book by E.B. White. Presented by special

arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company, Woodstock, Illinois. Directed by

Kathie Hart.

The Children's Literature Association named this "the best American children's book of

the past two hundred years," and Joseph Robinette, working with the advice of E.B.

White, has created a play that captures this work in a thrilling and utterly practical

theatrical presentation. The costumes and unit set may be simple or as colorful and

elaborate as you wish; it's the story and relationships that make the show. All the

enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately

wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each

other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed;

the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte,

who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer.” Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte

begins her campaign with the "miracle" of her web in which she writes, "Some pig." It's

the beginning of a victorious campaign which ultimately ends with the now-safe Wilbur

doing what is most important to Charlotte. This is a beautiful, knowing play about

friendship that will give your actors a great opportunity and your audience an evening of

enchantment.

Performances will be at Sandwich Opera House April 4 th and 5th at 7pm and April 6 th at

2pm. Tickets are $15 each presale or at the box office plus any taxes and fees.
