URGENT: Auditions to be held June 28 and 30!

What: Auditions for Sandwich Fair Melodramas and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

When: Friday, June 28th from 7-9pm and Sunday, June 30th from 1-4pm

Where: Sandwich Opera House Community Room

The two Melodrama shows for this year’s Sandwich Fair are “Bad to the Last Drop” (set in Gloria Jean’s Coffee Shop in the 1800’s), directed by Karen Leifheit and “Malled” (set in a Dept. Store in the 1940’s), directed by Kyle Carr. Both shows are written by local playwright, Tim Lueken, and were performed at the Fair in the late 90’s. IVT is so thankful that Mr. Lueken has agreed to let us perform these again to help keep our costs down at the Fair. Melodramas are unique forms of theatre and have been a tradition for IVT at the Sandwich Fair for many years. Melodramas come from Vaudeville times and feature exaggerated characters and exciting, over the top situations with heroes and villains and usually damsels in distress.

“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” will be directed by Jen Ketchum, with assistant director, Brittany Watne and producer Jessica Sus. Performances will be held October 11th, 12th and 13th at the Sandwich Opera House. “Early on a September morning the villagers of Sleepy Hollow await their new schoolmaster. When Ichabod finally arrives, his priggish correctness casts a pall over the gossipy, prank-playing townsfolk. Soon enough, though, his genteel manners and his hymn

singing impress the ladies, including Katrina Van Tassel, the town belle. The menfolk are less thrilled, especially Brom Bones, Katrina's beau, and he begins plotting to rid himself of his unwelcome rival. Matters come to a head during the Van Tassel's Halloween party, after which the superstitious Ichabod is accosted on his lonely ride home by a fiendish

apparition, the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow. The next morning Ichabod has disappeared, leaving behind only a song in the wind, and a new legend is born.”

Auditions for all three shows will consist of cold readings from the scripts. Please make sure to have all your rehearsal conflict dates available. You are encouraged to audition for all or any of the three shows! Casting will consist of females and males, ages 13 and up!
