Indian Valley Theatre is proud to announce the names of the recipients of this year’s 2024 “IVT Mimi Bryan Memorial Scholarship.” Because of generous donations from the community, IVT was able to award two $500 scholarships this year. Congratulations to Alexis Barkman of Yorkville and Paige Penman of Somonauk. Both students were presented with their awards at Senior Awards Nights at their local High Schools by Sharon Pagoria, Scholarship Chair.
From Indian Valley Theatre’s very first days, Mimi Bryan was there. She was one member of the passionate founding families dreaming big about live community theatre. As a long-time educator, Mimi was active on stage as well as behind the scenes. Most importantly, she was instrumental in giving many budding actors a shot on stage and bringing Community Theater to life for hundreds of members of the Fox Valley community to enjoy. In the wonderful spirit of her significant contributions to the Fox Valley theatre world, IVT is very pleased to offer this year’s “IVT Mimi Bryan Memorial Scholarship” to these two very deserving students.
This year the Scholarship Committee received more well-qualified applications than ever before which made the decision very difficult. Both Alexis and Paige expressed brilliantly why they felt this scholarship would help them in college and were chosen not just for their participation in theatre or fine arts related activities, but for their volunteerism, determination, grades, leadership, focus on goals and dedication to the high standards they have set for themselves.
Alexis (pictured above) will be attending the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities pursuing a degree in Psychology with the desire to become a Clinical Psychologist and Paige (pictured right) will major in Pre-professional (Pre- medicine) at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg to follow her dream of becoming a Chiropractor.
